About The Team.
Raul Varela is an Anthropologist, Filmmaker, Photographer, and Musician from México based in Berkeley, California. His images are bold, daring, sexy emanating strength, confidence, and empowerment. He uses natural–and flash–light while embracing shadows to create dimensions that highlight his subjects' attitude, courage, and elegance. His photography and video work spans across multiple platforms. From travel, portrait, fine art nude, beauty & boudoir photography, to exposé documentary films dealing with colonization, immigration, indigenous, and women's rights.
Cynthia Diaz is our
Studio Manager and she
is currently a student at UC Berkeley’s Anthropology department pursuing her BA in Sociocultural Anthropology. She’s passionate about drawing, photography, and social issues that are impacting the lives of people living under precarious conditions and political oppression. She is the proud mother of 20-year-old Kassy who’s currently a student at Merritt College in Oakland, California. Side note about Kassy: She might also end up pursuing anthropology as her major and become an activist.
